About

Mairead was first mentored by Nicola McCartney through the Playwright Studio Scotland mentorship scheme. She was shortlisted for the Tron Open Stage playwrighting competition for her play Sapna and was part of the Traverse Young Writers Group for two years. A fluent Gaelic speaker Mairead was also Assistant Producer on Seachd, the first ever Gaelic feature film and  assistant director to National Theatre's of Scotland's Summersaults by Iain Finlay Macleod.

Mairead has recently completed an MA Television Fiction Writing at Glasgow Caledonian University. Her place on the course was sponsored by ScreenHI, the course was run by Anne-Marie De Mambro and Shed Media. She was awarded Script of the year 2011 for her completed pilot script. She has more recently visited Cove Park for a Writers Residency with NTS and to Tulchan Lodge in March with the Playwrights Studio- experiences she greatly enjoyed.
